Current Exhibition
Ralitsa´s abstract painting is full of emotion, sensuality and unadulterated vitality.
I have been observing Mrs. Ralitsa Stoitseva’s painting for at least thirty years. And her painting definitely has its place in our art with its distinctive aura.
I have formed my opinion about Mrs. Stoitseva as one of the valuable authors in the field of contemporary Bulgarian art. Since the early 90s I remember her pictures, standing somehow especially in the field of abstraction with a strong emphasis on the materiality of the pictorial surface, but also most unexpectedly, present with the charm of some “magical reality”.
The current exhibition “Walk in Paradise” by Ralitsa Stoitseva in the Vivacom Art Hall – 5, Oborishte Street Gallery is probably something like a sum up of her work over the past years. If we judge even only by the scale of the exhibition. The collection mainly contains works in a large format, bearing titles such as “Spring of my wishes”, “Summer of my wishes”, “Night in Paradise”, “Sometimes objects also bloom”, “Two floating objects”, “Under the water”, “Flying Objects”, “And the Clouds Turned Pink”, “A Vagina’s Dream”, “Timelessness”, “The Secret Garden”, “Sometimes Objects Are Invisible”. In the midst of this apparently metaphorical way of thinking, we have the opportunity to read the synthesis of the most important directions in the author’s work. And one cannot miss the conclusion that Mrs. Stoitseva belongs to the generation that expanded the territory of what in Bulgaria is traditionally associated with the art of painting.
Mrs. Ralitsa Stoitseva doesn’t just use new combinations of materials, experiment with the balance of volumes, or brings painting to border areas of visual issues. The biggest merit in her case is the introducing of homo ludens component. The author conceptually uses this dimension, and it permeates everything from the vulgarity of the materiality of surfaces to the pleasure of drawing all kinds of flying objects. She takes the vocation of an artist very seriously, but that doesn’t stop her from wildly having fun. This makes her abstract painting full of emotion, sensuality and unadulterated vitality.
